Response to a confession. (The period of time you are referring to is when Ohno’s threesome scandal happened and Johnny’s tried to take attention away from it by pushing Ohmiya on TV. Even Nino said in his blog at the time that the members were forced to talk about Ohmiya on Music Station during that time.)
@confessingaboutarashi These incidents are unrelated and almost a year apart. The Music Station one was in September 2007 during Arashi’s tour and Ohno’s scandal wasn’t published until July 2008 when he was filming Maou.
Seriously? I could of sworn they were related and I’m pretty sure I’ve seen other people say they were. If not then why the hell were they forced? Johnny’s sure is weird…
I’ve read that too before but I think people tend to mix things up because of the gravity of Ohno’s scandal. If I’m not wrong it was because of Nino and Masami, but that whole situation is super weird. Instead of denying the rumors they just decided to imply he was gay. lol (at least that’s how Tamori interpreted that whole convo)
The worst part is that the fans fall for it. Ohmiya popularity was at all-time high around then. That’s why I’m not the biggest Ohmiya fan. I love their little moments but from 2007-2010 seems super fake at times and it really bugs me. The agency really shouldn’t try to force a fake relationship like that. -_-
To be honest, Ohmiya was never really popular between Japanese fans, even in the earlier days. That whole “Ohmiya/Sakuraiba/Forever-Alone-Jun” craze pretty much only happened within the international fandom.
I honestly think JE didn’t know how to handle them. For years and years they were pissing off their management by telling everyone they were “dating” and being extra, but that was their own little thing and Arashi/the fans were ok with it (for the most part :v). But then when JE started picking up more on the idea of “member-ai” for Arashi around their 10th anniversary, I feel like Ohmiya just noped the fuck out. Probably it wasn’t as fun anymore.
